The setting, the logistics and the honeymoon that follows are all taken care of.
Weddings & Elopements
Experience Highlights
- A private ceremony in the wild: on a kopje, under an acacia, or overlooking the plains
- Elopements for two or intimate weddings with close family and friends
- Celebration dinner in the bush, with lanterns, firelight and a table under the stars
- Your honeymoon safari built straight in, with no extra travel
- Optional beach finish or barefoot ceremony in Zanzibar
- One team planning the ceremony, camps, guides and transfers
Why get married on safari?
A safari wedding is about stripping a wedding back to what matters: the two of you, the people you love most, and a setting nobody will ever forget. There’s no ballroom and no seating plan to agonise over. You get open sky, extraordinary wildlife, and a celebration that flows straight into your honeymoon.
Because the camps we work with are small and intimate, a safari wedding naturally suits elopements and small weddings rather than large guest lists. For many couples, that’s exactly the point.
Ceremony settings we can arrange
- Serengeti plains at sunset: vows with endless grassland in every direction and the light turning gold.
- Granite kopjes: natural rock outcrops in the Central Serengeti, with sweeping views over big-cat country.
- Under an acacia tree: a simple, beautiful setting arranged close to your camp.
- Ngorongoro highlands: cool air and dramatic views on the rim of the crater.
- Zanzibar beach: a barefoot ceremony on the Indian Ocean after your safari, or before it.
Exact locations depend on the camp, the season and any permissions needed. We’ll check what’s possible for your dates and recommend the best options.
Elopement or small wedding?
Safari elopement. Just the two of you, with perhaps a photographer. A private ceremony, a bush dinner for two, and your honeymoon starts that evening. It’s the simplest to plan and the most intimate.
Intimate safari wedding. Bring a small group of family and friends. We’ll coordinate their safari, accommodation and transfers alongside yours, so everyone shares the experience before and after the big day.
What we take care of
- Choosing the right camp and ceremony setting for your dates
- Coordinating with the camp team on the ceremony, décor and celebration dinner
- Arranging an officiant for a symbolic ceremony, if you’d like one
- Recommending photographers who can join you on safari
- Safari, flights and transfers for you and any guests
- Planning the honeymoon that follows, including Zanzibar if you wish
Legal or symbolic ceremony?
Many couples complete the legal paperwork at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on safari. It’s simpler, and the day itself feels exactly the same. If you’d like your marriage to be legally registered in Tanzania, tell us early. Requirements and lead times vary by nationality, and we’ll talk you through what’s involved.
Where to stay
We match the camp to the kind of wedding you want: the most private settings for elopements, and camps with room for a small group when family is joining.

Sample plan: 8-night safari wedding and honeymoon
Nights 1–2: Tarangire. Arrive, unwind and settle into safari life with elephants and baobabs.
Night 3: Ngorongoro highlands. A day on the crater floor before heading to the Serengeti.
Nights 4–6: Central Serengeti. Game drives, then your ceremony at sunset on day five, followed by a bush dinner under the stars.
Nights 7–8: Honeymoon time. A slower final stretch in the Serengeti, or fly to Zanzibar and extend with beach days.
Every wedding safari is designed around you. Share your dates and ideas, and we’ll suggest the best route.
When to plan your wedding safari
- June to October: dry, clear weather and excellent wildlife. The most reliable months for an outdoor ceremony.
- January to February: green landscapes and calving season in the southern Serengeti, with generally good weather between the rains.
- March to May: the long rains make outdoor ceremonies harder to plan, and some camps close. We usually advise other months.
Popular dates book up early, so we recommend starting to plan around 9 to 12 months ahead.
Wedding safari FAQs
Can we legally get married on safari in Tanzania?
It can be possible, but requirements vary by nationality and take time. Many couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on safari. Talk to us early and we’ll explain the options.
How many guests can we bring?
Safari camps are small, so wedding safaris suit elopements and intimate groups best. Tell us your numbers and we’ll recommend camps that fit.
Can our honeymoon follow straight on?
Yes. That’s one of the best parts. Your honeymoon safari, or a Zanzibar beach extension, can be planned as one seamless trip. See our Honeymoon Safari page for ideas.
Can we have a photographer?
Yes. We can recommend photographers who can join you on safari, or work with one you bring.
Is it only for weddings? What about vow renewals?
Vow renewals on safari are wonderful too. Everything on this page works for renewing your vows, and our Romantic Safari page covers anniversaries and proposals.
How far ahead should we plan?
Ideally 9 to 12 months, especially for June to October or if guests are joining. Shorter timelines are sometimes possible, so ask us.
